How can you bypass the A/C compressor on a 1991 Cadillac Sedan 4.9L FWD?

1991 Sedan DeVille with seized a/c compressor. Is is possible to intall a shorter serpentine belt bypassing the compressor? Or replace the compressor with a bypass pulley? How involved is the job? Thanks
